Assessing the validity of the international consensus on the sustainable management of water resources using the 1998 legislative reform of water resource management in South Africa as a case study.

Regulatory reform of South Africa's water resource sector; Natural resource management and in particular water resources in South Africa; Participatory management and devolved management; Water services and the finance of subsidies in South Africa.
Selected Publications:
Julia Brown and Philip Woodhouse have recently written a book chapter
entitled "Pioneering Redistributive Regulatory Reform. A Study of
Implementation of a Catchment Management Agency for the Inkomati Water
Management Area, South Africa" which will form part of a collection on
Regulatory Governance, edited by CRC's Martin Minogue. The book is one in the CRC series published by Edward Elgar and is due in March 2006.
